“While we live, while we are among human beings, let us cultivate our humanity” - Seneca

This program is rooted in the ideas of rebirth and awakening. The Renaissance was a historical period when people rethought the way in which they viewed themselves and their relationship to the world around them. Approximately 650 years later, this academy poses the same challenge, questioning and rethinking our society’s ideas about education and knowledge. Our philosophy is that in order to achieve success in any field, one must possess a foundation of “true education”, that is, one that is not solely based upon the academics, but also studies in arts and culture as well. In today’s specialized world, this Renaissance ideal of “well-roundedness” is fading further away. Genuine knowledge is beyond the simple memorization of facts. There is a deeper layer that is missing in this process, and that is the encouragement of individual and original thinking among students. Human progress is only achieved when a new idea or concept comes into existence. When one has various sources to draw upon, whether it be literature, philosophy, history, music, or art, it is only then that one can think with creativity, imagination, and originality. Examples can be seen in many of our civilization’s greatest figures. Leonardo da Vinci was the “Renaissance Man” who left behind a tremendous legacy in the worlds of both art and medical science. Physicist Albert Einstein not only revolutionized science with his theories but was also a highly accomplished violinist and musician as well. Based upon our educational beliefs, The Renaissance Academy’s programs emphasize and nurture the various intelligences of each student: logical/mathematical, verbal/linguistic, visual/spatial, and musical/rhythmic. The Academy wholeheartedly believes that deeper knowledge and a higher level of learning can be attained with the exploration, study, and exposure to these different subjects. The Renaissance Academy aims to fill the void left by our current school system and to provide students with the opportunity to develop a broad, global perspective and to fulfill their own unique individual potential through the highest quality education possible. In our aim to promote a life-long education and to explore learning from all perspectives, we continue to expand our programs and now offer courses for children and adults of all ages and levels. With a unique, intensive structure, outstanding faculty, and diverse cultural courses and programs, the Academy remains committed to serving the community.
